Construction has progressed to the upper courses of wall blocks. The extremely wet spring has delayed the manufacture of the final courses of blocks. All materials for the roof are onsite. We expect the house to be completed in early summer.
As anticipated there has been a significant learning curve during the construction of the first HICSEB structure in Tanzania. This experience should lead to a more efficient implementation in subsequent projects.
Once the first house is completed at Kagondo trade school, construction will begin on the second house, which will be in the village of Nymuhunga. Funding for this house has been received. Planning with the village council is ongoing.
The community has identified who will live in the first house, and neighbours have agreed to provide volunteer labour for the CSEB block manufacture process.
It is premature to estimate the timing of completion of the second house, but substantial progress is expected during 2022.
