Tanzania Makuyuni Maasai Boma Education for All April 2025 Update
In Tanzania the school year begins in January… and this January ICO Education for All supported 43 children to attend school. The bursary includes tuition, two meals each school day as well as school supplies and uniforms.
The children at Nashipay Maasai Pre and Primary School begin the school day at 8 am with morning parade. Lots of singing and movement to help the kids get the wiggles out before classes begin at 8:30. The first of the two meals of the school day, called morning porridge, is served at 10:30 and then a second meal after two additional hours of class at 12:30. The school day formally ends at 2:30 although many students stay after class to help with classroom clean up, to do extra study and to play a bit before going home to complete family chores.
The families of the bursary students who live below the Maasai poverty line of 9 goats and 5 cows are appreciative of the life changing opportunity education offers these children and their families.
