The Irrigation Initiative continues to demonstrate sustainability, positively impacting the single most important crop grown in Nepal: rice.
Based on the right balance of rain and temperature, the majority of Nepalese get just one harvest per year in October or November, so adequate irrigation is essential to crop productivity. This past fall turned out to be a success, despite a late rainfall that delayed the harvesting, and, so far, the spring crops, including maize, are looking good.
Discussions are underway with field lead Navin Adhikari, regarding the next stages of the Irrigation Initiative.
