Philip Bisset-Covaneiro
President
ICO World Centre

Philip spent his earliest developmental years in Portugal, before moving to Macau, China, (then, still a Portuguese colony).  From there he spent time in a variety of places in Europe and North America, finally moving to the West Coast of Canada and North Vancouver, BC.  After completing his Bachelor of Science of Economics from the University of Victoria, he entered the Financial Services Industry with Investors Group Financial.

Philip and his partner Carly Higgins have two beautiful daughters:  Taya Makena Covaneiro, and Alyssa Valentine Covaneiro.  With a family to consider, Philip and Carly have decided to reside permanently in Victoria.  On this premise, Philip has created the Victoria Young Entrepreneurs Society Group, or the Victoria, “YES”, Group, in order to bring local business leaders together to raise awareness through organizing a diverse theme of charity events.  Philip has also taken on the role of Voting Director of the Saanich Legacy Foundation, a local grass-roots foundation aimed at promoting local causes and initiatives to better Saanich and greater Victoria’s community health.

“The future is ours to construct and it is our responsibility to construct it in an image that our children will be proud of!”

Kathy Hensley
Team Leader
Admin Team
ICO World Centre
and Assistant to Chair

Having been born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Kathy spent the year following high school graduation as an exchange student in Japan.  She attended a Japanese school, and studied the tea ceremony and Japanese dance. She returned home just in time to start classes at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.  While majoring in Psychology, she was also privileged to have been a four-year member of the Choir of the West, which traveled annually for performances around the U.S. and western Canada.  Kathy has played the piano since age 4, which led to many other musical opportunities, and music is still one of her great passions.

Kathy came to Canada in the ‘60’s, and moved to Abbotsford, BC with her family in 1973, where she still resides today.  It is here, in the very early ’80’s, that she first met John Mitchell when they worked together on the District Executive for Scouts Canada.  John’s missions were first, to raise the awareness of Scouting in Abbotsford by involving our city and provincial leaders.  Then second, to help the boys, their families, and their leaders realize a new unification previously not experienced in this culturally and religiously diverse town.  Helping John work on these projects was a truly memorable, and rewarding, experience.

Over several years Kathy worked in two busy real estate offices as Receptionist, Bookkeeper, and Administrative Secretary.  Following that, she and her family created a very successful coffee-and-tea-based restaurant in Abbotsford, where she worked for its first 5 years.  (Two more of her passions:  organizing data, and working with people.)  The family and staff were pleased to be able to “give back” to a variety of local charities during that time.  She left the business a few years ago, did some traveling, and kept herself busy with her house, yard, and yes - more music!
