The District of Kaski, like many other areas of Nepal, lacks quality education. Government schools are often poorly supplied; teaching supplies, desks and chairs are often sparse; and, some teachers struggle to be motivated to attend class due to poor wages. Poor families struggle to pay for school fees, books, supplies and school uniforms, which are mandatory. Some very poor farming families require all family members to assist with the farming duties, making attending school a challenge.
Students are eager to learn, very dedicated to their studies and parents are supportive of their children having an education, knowing education will open opportunities for their children that were not available for them.
This Education Initiative will establish a support system for children and families that cannot meet the basic requirements of attending school, including support for school uniforms, pencils, paper and books. Children that are unable to attend school because the families have little income will be sponsored from this initiative.
This education initiative will also provide funding to establish a computer institute, including computers, tables and chairs, electricity, room rent and a teacher.
Funding will help with existing schools that are old and require minor repairs to building new structures, including roof repairs, playground safety/fencing to avoid animals grazing on the playground, washroom facilities and drinking water taps.
ICO team members in Nepal will work with the local Village Development Committees and schools principles to ensure that the money is used effectively and positively impacting children’s lives.
Your support is appreciated and 100% of your donation will go directly to this initiative.
